Our bodies and minds benefit from taking an afternoon nap.
Our bodies and minds benefit from taking a well-deserved vacation.
Here's how to receive a free vacation (or nap) any time you want.
Everyone experiences grief, sorrow and feelings of feeling lower-than-low.
We've all been told to expect these things in our lives.
But there are other things (not painful) available to us if we'll just acknowledge them.
When you have a moment…ask yourself these three questions.
Your soul will provide three answers.
There's an epidemic in our world and it's killing millions and millions of us.
Listen.
No matter how far away you think you are from everyone and everything else…
You are never alone.
Right now—with very little training and guidance—you—can predict your future!
How?
Listen.
Here's something I'd like you to ponder the next time you're deep in meditation.
See if it rings true for you.
Remember all those hurtful, hateful things you did to others, back in the day?
Remember all those times that you, yourself cried or felt embarrassed or less-than?
It's fun re-living those times, isn't it?
Stress and tension and anxiety have been with us since the beginning of time. There's always been something to stress about.
Here's my favorite way to eliminate stress.
Before you attempt to increase the peace in the world…
Practice—and get real good at—bringing peace to yourself—blessing yourself with this glorious gift.
This event happened 30 years ago, but the results of this experiment—and what these results taught us—are still as viable and powerful and hopeful today.
Listen.
The writer, Nora Ephron died this past week.
Of course there were special reports all over the airwaves dedicated to her life, her work. One of my favorites was a compilation of interviews she'd done with Charlie Rose on PBS.
In one of those sharings, she offered this bit of advice.
Do you remember why you were born?
Some people do—others don't.
Here's the answer to that question.
"Hey, world, look at me—look what I can do!"
That was me back in the day. I was unstoppable, I could do it all, I was a creator extraordinaire!
Then, one day, I caught wind of a little tune written by George Harrison of the Beatles…
After you pray—after you ask the universe for something…
Be it better health, a mate, a million bucks, a new car, a home-of-your-very-own, or that new pair of shoes you've been a-pinin' for…
After you pray for anything—you gotta let it go!
Oh, my God, it's happening—the end of the world!
The Mayans predicted it so it must be true. We're doomed, DOOMED!
No.
Stop.
You've got it all wrong.
How many of you have a list inside your head of:
"Things you want to do as soon as you can find the time to do these things you've wanted to do for quite some time now"?
Everyone wants to live-in-love with their ideal companion, right? Everyone wants to enjoy a fulfilling lifetime with the man or woman of their dreams. What could be better than that?
Thing is, there's a very important part—a crucial part—of this "finding one another" scenario that few folks know about.
We come into this world in various forms. All of us—we're all different. And that's good. The world thrives on this diversity!
But did you know this?
There is a way we're all alike.
No matter who you are in this lifetime, no matter where you live or how much money you have (or don't), or how much schooling you have (or don't) —or whatever you think is important (or don't) — if you want to succeed — you have to …
"Your mind catches up to what you already know."
How do we escape from the anger and sadness of this world we're reminded of each and every moment of our lives and re-emerge into that place where we want to be, that we long to be, that best serves us and helps us to best-serve?
Actually, it's easy. Listen.
You remember what they say about history, right?
That, if you don't remember it, if you don't learn from it, you're bound to repeat it.
It appears we have that same issue with the phrase: Would-a, could-a, should-a
It's all over the news these days…the fact that people—everywhere—are having a tough time going to sleep at night.
Radio & TV shows discuss the problem—newspaper & magazine articles offer helpful hints—but there's one important point these sources rarely talk about.
And it's probably the most-important thing we should all be doing before drifting off to dreamland.
Any child with younger siblings has had to watch over these little ones at some point in their lives.
And even if you're an only child, surely, at some time in your past, you were given the responsibility of watching over someone else's younger ones.
It's called babysitting. Taking care of youngsters, attending to them, making sure they're okay.
Last week we spoke of the importance of building your own altar.
It doesn't have to be as spectacular as altars one might encounter in cathedrals, mosques, synagogues, or temples - but it should be special - a sacred place that beckons one to be quiet, reverent.
Listen to what else these holy places in our homes can accomplish.
Throughout all these talks of ours, we've mentioned many things that are worth incorporating into our lives in order to assist us in being all that we can be.
"Focus on what you want, not what you don't-want."
Meditation is beneficial.
And here's something else.
We're one; we're all one.
We're not separate, we're not different.
But can we really get our heads around that concept?
The word love is tossed around so much these days that it's lost much of its shine, its meaning, its, well…
the meaning we always hoped it would mean when we said it and meant it.
Now, it's everywhere—spouted constantly.
Most of the spiritual teachings recommend learning a form of meditation.
Being prayerful
Being mindful.
Being quiet and still.
Here's a simple method you might enjoy.
Out of all the stuff I've learned from my spiritual teachers,
I wanted to figure out:
What's the most important piece of advice I could give to you.
In the children's book, "Mrs. Pennybutton—Teacher of Souls", she reminds her students that, once they are born, once they are living here on Earth, it's quite important to:
"Remember who you are".
(who you really are)
The Divine-Whatever is always listening to what you say, hearing what words you use, feeling what feelings you feel, seeing what pictures you're painting in your mind—and then—doing its darnedest to give you exactly what you're putting out there.
Let's say that the following is true; let's say this is how life works.
Every morning, when we awake, we either have a full tank of energy to expend—or—a big stack of money to spend.
Choose the image that works best for you.
Most spiritual teachings suggest incorporating a form of meditation into your daily ritual.
A time to go within.
A time to communicate with Spirit.
A time to receive guidance from a power greater than yourself.
And the BEST way to meditate? Well, it must be YOUR way to meditate.
It must be in the water.
This message popped into my consciousness several times this week. It may have appeared to you, too, in some form or another.
Heck, I hope it's poppin' up for everyone, everywhere.
As I said, it must be in the water.
I opened the door to my storage unit.
You know, that place where you put all those things you want to save but don't have room for in your house, so you rent this 'other little house' so you can store those things you want to save but have no room for in your house?
Then it hit me:
"Why am I saving all of this stuff?"
Some of the most powerful pieces of guidance the world has ever known can be summed up in just a few words, sentences, phrases.
Words and phrases, simple in nature, easy-to-understand.
But BECAUSE they're simple in nature, and easy-to-understand, we pay no attention to this knowledge being shared. Instead, we believe,
"Ah. c'mon, that'd NEVER work!"
Everyone's racing to find the ideal gift for everyone on their list this holiday season.
But you have to know what the person likes, what they don't like, what they've asked for, what size they require, what colors, what brands… (whew!)
Know the best gift you can give someone?
How many of us have encountered the ol' back seat driver?
"You're going too fast!"
"You should've turned there!"
"Hey, you want ME to drive?"
Pretty annoying, huh?
We're like this with the universe, too.
Several dozens shows ago, we talked about an ancient healing technique used by shamans the world over. (Show #24, to be exact)
Here's ANOTHER healing technique from these same shamans.
Think of it as a gift you can give yourself this holiday season.
There's a wonderful couple—Jerry and Esther Hicks—who've been teaching the Law of Attraction for many years now.
They're constantly offering up new insights to help us all as we walk our path.
Here's one of my favorite lessons from them.
http://www.abraham-hicks.com/lawofattractionsource/about_hicks.php
Last year at Thanksgiving, we wondered, "Hmm, why just this one day to give thanks; why not every day?" And we all agreed, "Yeah, that would be a good idea, to be thankful every day of the year and not just this one day in November."
But there's more…
Last week we spoke of this advice the shamans have shared with us:
"Don't fear fear."
Here's a corollary to that:
"Do the thing you're afraid to do."
Here's something the shamans have always said.
"Don't fear fear."
On this planet, at this time, we have to deal with this thing called fear, but we can, indeed, deal with it, work with it, learn from it, benefit from it and not succumb to it, be drowned in it.
As with all things on earth, there's a reason fear's here.
I was sitting in meditation the other day when my monkey mind took hold. You know what that is, right?
It's how the ancient Masters referred to our 'everyday mind': "Like a drunken monkey"
As in,
"all over the place."
Everything we want in life, everything we're searching for, everything we believe that we need in order to live the life we've imagined for ourselves already exists.
How you find these things is up to you.
There's a saying the Hawaiian shamans have which goes:
"Let that which is unknown, be known."
Why keep secrets?
Aren't we're ALL in this 'experience' together? Shouldn't we ALL have equal access to the Laws of Life?
When you have a moment, try this technique that's been used by Masters the world over for many, many years.
It's not difficult, per se, but to do it for any length of time may prove challenging.
As with anything else, the more you do it, the better you'll become, the easier it'll get.
When you're about to die—
When you're on your deathbed and moments away from passing on—
not one of you will say these things.
In each issue, the magazines, Men's Health and Women's Health provide guidance in an ongoing column called, "Eat This, Not That" that teaches which foods are better for us, whether we're shopping at the grocery store or eating in a restuarant.
The shamans have a similar system called, "SAY This, Not That" which teaches that we have a choice with the things we say to ourselves and others.
Folks involved in a Near Death Experience always bring back words of wisdom that benefit us all.
Such is the case with Anita Moorjani's account.
http://www.nderf.org/anita_m's_nde.htm
There's an incredible place in Castle Rock, Colorado called PAALS.
"People And Animals Living Synergistically"
Creator Diane Benedict is definitely onto something!
http://www.dogwork.com/anih8/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aflfi_gkFQ
It's all the rage these days—multitasking.
We've come to the conclusion that the MORE we can do in any given moment:
the MORE we'll accomplish.
the SOONER we'll get ahead of the crowd.
the BETTER a person we'll be.
But that's not true.
I asked a lot of successful folks:
"What's the most important thing thing you've learned in life that will help the rest of us succeed in life, no matter what our path might be?"
And they all answered:
"Just begin"
Know how when kids get upset, they kick and scream and cry and bang their heads against the floor? And sometimes they even call you names!
But you don't take it personally. Naw, they're just little kids, lettin' off steam.
That's how God is when you bitch and moan and call Him every name in the book.
You know, just because something is on TV doesn't mean that it's true—doesn't mean that it's good—doesn't mean that it's something you want to spend time watching.
That's why having a clicker is so great!
There's a clicker for your life, too.
All computers have DEFAULT settings.
They help the computer go back to square one should things start to go whacko.
We have a DEFAULT setting, too.
In movies, comic books, TV shows and real life, we can always count on the good ol' newspaper reporter giving us the scoop on what's happenin'. How's this accomplished?
By answering Who, What, When, Where and Why.
Manifesting stuff in our life works this way, too.
Well, sort of.
When you're thinking about what you'd like to do with your life—
Whether that be the entire arc of your life or just a particular part of it —
It's always helpful to remember these 2 things:
"Focus on what you want, not what you don't-want." — and—
"YOU are in charge of you."
Pick a time today (doesn't matter when) and observe your thoughts.
Are you worried about something?
Are you angry at someone?
Are you excited about an upcoming event?
It doesn't matter WHAT you're thinking about, no, but know this:
What you're thinkin', you're creatin'
There are shamans all over the world - incredible men and women who carry on the tradition of teaching the universal laws in story form.
Here's one of my favorites from the American Indian shamans.
We've all heard this bit-of-wisdom,
in some form,
at some point in our lifetime:
Ya gotta take care of yourself FIRST, before taking care of others."
Really, it all boils down to choice.
No matter what's happening in the world all around you…
you have a choice.
Listen.
I enjoy the long-form type of story, lesson, or joke.
" A shaggy-dog story", some call it.
Here're two.
Early in the morning - BEFORE you get out of bed - even BEFORE you open your eyes - say this to yourself and ponder it awhile.
"My intention today is to be the best me that I can be. And by doing just-that, that's how I'll best-serve the Highest Good."
Not too tough, huh? I mean, just BEING the best you that you can be all day!
There's a great hamburger place on the west coast of the United States called "In & Out Burger" and they make the best stuff!
Not a huge menu. Just hamburgers, chesseburgers, fries, and 'something to drink'. That's it.
Oh, and they also have this free bumper sticker!
We are not the clothes we wear. We are not our hair, our bodies, where we live or how much money we have. We may HAVE those things - but we're NOT those things. Those things don't matter. Those things are just fluff.
"There, but for the grace of God, go I."
We all KNOW that saying, but few of us remember it for any length of time. Actually, it's a pretty powerful statement. It tells you a LOT in a few words & it 'lets you in' on a very important universal secret.
Rat bastard. Anyone who hears that term can sorta, on-their-own figure out that a Rat Bastard is a "someone people don't think too fondly of"
We've all made mistakes in our past.
Big ones, little ones, medium ones.
And no matter the SIZE of these past mistakes, we're able to dredge them up and recall them with the greatest of ease. No biggie.
Last week we spoke about our Number 1 priority in this lifetime:
to KNOW who we are!
But that's only half of the equation.
Once you KNOW who you are, ya gotta BE who you are.
(the Divine Creation is counting on you to do just-that)
2011 is the year we finally comprehend the #1 Secret.
Well, actually we've known it all along, but we tend to forget.
Then, remember again.
Then forget.
Then remember.
(you know, the ol' "lather, rinse, repeat" thing)
We don't OWN any part of this planet. We only BORROW bits-and-pieces of it from lifetime to lifetime.
And wishing hurt, harm and death on others doesn't serve us very well either because. . .uh. . .well, karmically-speaking,
"What we put out there, we get back"
Remember when you were growing up and all the 'adults around you' would point towards a church, for example, and remark:
"That's where God is, THAT'S where He lives.
THAT'S where you go to pray.
THERE'S where you can get to God without having to wait in line."
(Secret Shaman Hint: He's other places, too)
There's an old riddle that goes like this:
"Which of these would you choose?
10 million dollars, cash on the table
- or –
A penny that doubles in value every day for the rest of your life?"
For her new book, "The Twisted Sisterhood", author Kelly Valen talked to thousands of women to find out why 'we tear one another down'.
Why all the frenemies?
- and -
How can we be so GOOD for one another – and yet, so MEAN to one another?
Yes, yes, I COULD have drawn a larger crowd by titling this show:
"Lose 10 pounds in 10 Minutes!"
-or -
"Send Me a Dollar and I'll Send You a Million!"
But I thought I'd keep it simple . . and honest.
Here are two techniques that will help 'eliminate anger' from within you, that will 'dissuade' anger from being felt by you.
The Owner's Manual for "how to enjoy this life to the fullest" is not a large book at all. And the lessons are quite easy to comprehend.
The reason for this is simple: So that everyone can understand and make full use of this knowledge in their daily lives.
We tend to stumble, stutter and hesitate however, when it comes to operating the Manifestation Technique.
No biggie.
It's fixable.
Start out doing this once-a-day. And you must do it at LEAST once-a-day.
(well, in the beginning)
Soon, though, you'll tiptoe further and further out on that high diving board.
Not because it's scary - but because it's THRILLING!
The spiritual teachers on Earth are aware of a "certain something" that's happening to all of us right now.
A "certain something" that's going on inside the heart, soul and mind of EVERY being on this planet.
We all feel it.
(and it doesn't feel that-great)
Oh, sure, I'd HEARD it before, but I'd never really HEARD it.
Rather, I'd never really GOTTEN it.
Here's the way I learned this Universal Law.
We all know HOW to pray, but do we know WHY it works the way it does?
Why some prayers are answered. . .
and most, most-often are not?
(it's not a bad thing)
Here's one way the shamans help-to-heal and you can do it, too!
I'll explain 'how to do it' then I'll provide helpful hints on how to improve your effectiveness while doing this technique.
It's almost Thanksgiving here in the good ol' U.S. and that means everyone'll be saying, well, "thanks" on that day.
Yes, that's the one day of the year when we all agree to take a moment and give thanks for " . . all that we've been given, Lord. Amen".
But what about the other 364 days?
How many different kinds of ALARMS do we have in our lives?
Alarm clocks (of course).
Alarms on our cars, ovens, washers, dryers, computers, watches, phones.
Alarm systems are EVERWHERE in our lives.
The shamans speak of alarms, as well.
Alarms that sound 'just for you'.
A shaman once said to me:
"It's easier to hurt someone, than heal them."
And, yeah, at the time it DID apprear that way.
But then I got to thinkin' . . .
This thought has been thought-before.
By millions of folks!
It's not a DEEP thought.
(actually, it's a NO-brainer)
But, putting this thought into action would make a WORLD of difference.
I'm just sayin' . . .
It's a waste of your time and energy to worry about how someone else is living their life.
It's a waste of your time and energy to be angry at someone for the way they just lived their life.
It's a waste of your time and energy to take offense with someone because they're not living life the way YOU think they should.
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera . . .
I'm going to draw a picture for you 'using words'.
Rather, I'm going to describe this physical layout to you using language - and from THAT description - you'll draw your OWN picture.
Once everyone has this 'picture in their head', well . . .
you'll see.
What's your favorite TV commercial jingle or theme song? Yeah, that one. The one you know all the words to by heart.
And what's your favorite game or puzzle or "pastime that's just-enough-of-a-challenge but not overly-taxing, physically or otherwise?
Okay, now we're going to combine those two talents of yours and get clear on something.
Pick a time today - a moment - a minute - an hour, if you dare - and focus ONLY on the 'goodness around you'.
Then, STAY focused on this 'good stuff' for a long as you can.
What about all the other stuff on Earth that's 'NOT-so-good', how do we deal with that?
Listen.
"Your future is what you're thinking and feeling and saying right now - plus a little bit more."
That's all fine and good but - MOST of us - MOST of the time - are usually thinking and feeling and talking about our PAST or FUTURE.
The shamans share some helpful insights.
One of my first teachers was this incredible healer.
(who also happened to be a shaman)
And the folks who came to see him not only experienced a physical healing, but a mental, emotional and spiritual healing as well.
Here's why.
We all like going on adventures, taking vacations, experiencing new things!
But sometimes the weather's bad.
Or you have to stand in line.
Or people can't understand what you're trying to say.
Still, it's a lot of fun, so we keep doing it.
More adventures, more vacations, more new things to experience!
You're living the life you've always imagined -
(whether you CONSCIOUSLY imagined it or not)
Your life experience ALWAYS matches the pictures in your head, the feelings in your gut, and the words that you speak.
We've each been blessed with a gift, a "certain something" that only we can do, oh-so-well.
When we give that "gift" to the world, the world responds in kind, giving us all the gifts WE want and need and desire.
So, how do we get a piece of this action?
It's a little thing, but a big thing.
I thought I had the solution to world peace.
"When you have the choice of being right or kind, always choose kind."
Two things are rarely mentioned in most "How to Manifest What You Want" classes.
Without these 2 things, the Manifestation Equation won't work.
Listening to podcasts on your mobile devices is extremely convenient -- and it's what makes the podcasting medium so powerful.
